The “Asociación para la Niñez y su Ambiente (ANIA)”, [Association for Children and their Environment (ANIA)], is a non-profit association founded in Peru in 1995. Its mission is to promote initiatives where by children and young people connect with Mother Earth and to empower them as change agents adopting and promoting sustainable lifestyles from their homes, educational institutions, and communities.
In the year 2030, the new generations in Peru, will grow up in regular and positive contact with nature, and will adopt sustainable lifestyles from their homes, educational institutions, and communities. Ania is recognized for having contributed significantly to this.
We are aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We drive our initiatives through goal number 18 "active empathy for life", a new goal that we consider will give sustainability to the other 17 goals. To achieve this, the aim is to get all educational institutions in the country to incorporate Mother Earth as a teacher in active empathy for life.
We aim for our initiatives to be institutionalized and multiplied through formal and non-formal education at the national and global levels in partnership with the public and private sector. We work in synergy with families, teachers, companies, international cooperation, grassroots organizations, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and other interested groups.
